As tensions continue to heighten, Latvia has taken the step of beginning construction of a barbed-wire wall along their eastern border. This wall, which has so far cost 2 million euros, is part of the nation’s continuous plan to strengthen defenses against perceived Russian aggression.
The wall will be one-hundred kilometers (62 miles) long and three meters high (over 9 feet). In case of additional tension, some places of the wall will reach six meters in height (over 19.5 feet).
Latvia shares 276 kilometers of its eastern border with Russia. To cut off nearly over a third of that border with a wall spells weakening relations between the two nations.
